I would like to take this opportunity, through the website, to thank those people who voted Labour at the General Election. While the result, nationally, was not what we had hoped for, we will continue to campaign to protect our public services and for a fairer society.
Yours faithfully, John Morgan
Labour Candidate, Rutland & Melton
Rutland & Melton Labour Party have said a huge thank you to John Morgan, our candidate at the general election. Despite a tough national picture for Labour, and a resurgence in the Liberal Democrat vote in Rutland, we were able to hold Alan Duncan's vote static, despite a rising national trend for the Tories. We want to say a thank you to all Labour voters and supporters who worked so hard to get our message across, and to keep the flame of progressive politics alive.
There is a lot to fight for and think about over the next couple of days, and Labour in Rutland & Melton must now turn our attention to offering a fresh voice at the district elections in 2011. The priority is to fight Tory cuts from Leicestershire County Council, to protect vital public services and to ensure that Rutland & Melton is able to renew it's economy.
